Yesterday I went with a couple of mates from Torquay to the opening game of this years A-League between Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United. This was my second football game (or soccer as they try to call it here) in a week after going down to Torquay on Sunday to watch my old team Surf Coast Soccer Club play, and meet all the guys, which was really good. The Melbourne game was pretty entertaining, they beat Adelaide for the first time and afterwords we went out for a few beer, I was pretty tired this morning though when I had to go to work again on a Saturday (good money for the Africa trip though).

On Sunday I went and saw my first game of Aussie rules football, it was definitely better then watching it on tv especially listening to all the fans around us screaming and going crazy. I still can’t really enjoy it as I do real football (what they call soccer here) but it was a fun day and the weather was great. I was “forced” to choose a team and from now on I’m a St Kilda fan (even if I don’t really care) pretty much for the reason that it’s the closest team to where we live.

Yesterday Bec and I booked our honeymoon, we’re going to Kenya and Tanzania for a Safari and then to Zanzibar for a nice relaxing time on the beach. After spending a lot of time looking through brochures we ended up with a 15 day safari with exodus starting on 31 Dec 2006 and then we’ll stay on Zanzibar for a couple of extra nights. It’s a bit more expensive that we first planned but the money we got at our wedding gave us a good start otherwise we couldn’t afford it (but we still have to save a fare bit). It’s really exciting as this is something we both really want to do but at least I never really thought that I would do it.
