Expensive things
Tuesday 25th April @ 14:49 under category: News

Recently the price of two every-day articles have been the big subject of conversation here in Australia: Petrol and Bananas.

About a month ago cyclone Larry hit the north coast of Queensland creating severe damages, among other things whiping out around 80% of Australias total production af Bananas. Due to the fact that Australia has a ban on importing bananas the price has more than trippled, from being able to find special prices under $2/kg it’s now common with prices around $7/kg, so I now tend to have apples or other things on my morning porriage.

Petrol is at its all time high with prices up to $1.40/l after hovering around $1.00/l for about a year and a half with a little top around september last year of $1.30/l but then it went down to around $1.10/l again. It’s still not as expensive as back in Sweden but over there it doesen’t seem like it has increased as dramaticly as here (and the distances you drive here are just slightly longer…) I’m thinking about buying a car if I get the job at the elevator place I’m talking to, but if I do I’ll get one that runs on LPG instead, there are quite a few cars around that are turned in to Dual-Fuel (runs both on gas and petrol) and even if a car uses up more gas that petrol it ends up being around half the cost/km using LPG at the moment as it sits around $0.45/l

Update 19 May - bananas where up to $14.99/kg at our small local supermarket yesterday and $10 at the larger supermarkets

Happy Easter
Monday 17th April @ 22:03 under category: News, Surf

Easter is almost over but I hope you all had a nice time and ate a lot of eggs and chocholate :-) we did (at least chocolate) Bec and I went down to Geelong to meet up with Meg and finish the invites on Wednesday, it went fine until Meg’s printer broke but it’s all sorted now and we are just about to send them. On Thursday we went down to Torquay for a surf before Bec headed back to Melbourne and for a little staff party. I stayed down another night and had some great surfs, I also went to soccer practise on Thursday so in two days I did more excersise than I usually do in two weeks. At the end of my second surf on Thursday my triceps cramped up every paddle I took so I really surfed as much as my body could handle. It’s not every day you have 4ft perfect surf and all the time you want to go surfing.
On Saturday I had to pay. I was so sore and my body so exhausted that it was really hard to focus on anything as all my energy went in to rebuilding my exhausted body, but it was definitely worth it! Today I feel fine again and really want some more surf, I might head down to Torquay on Tuesday again for Anders Birthday party, we’ll see…

Be a part of South Park
Tuesday 11th April @ 11:45 under category: Pictures

Jakob the Swedish Viking Christofer while having the flu last week My sister Susanna

There are lots of crazy and useless but fun things on the internet and here’s one that I really like. It’s the “South Park Studio” which allows you to make your own South Park characters, above you can see what I would look like if I was in the series (a Swedish Viking). If you like the show you should really have a go at this and if you make one of yourself and send me the result I’ll put it up here on my page.

The wedding is getting closer
Tuesday 4th April @ 21:13 under category: News

It is now less than 3 months to the big day! There is still a lot of things to organise but we feel like we’ve got it under some sort of control. Today I’ve spoken to the priest to set the exact time for the ceremony and found out that there’s some more paperwork to file, but we can do that with a local priest as we are about a 3h drive away from Port Fairy where the wedding is held. I feel glad that we found Fr Bryant as our priest, he’s very relaxed and friendly and even a bit funny at times so we get along quite well. We have also talked a bit more to Bec’s uncle Jonny who will do the photography and will head down and meet up with Lucas at ‘the Vic’ who will show us some good spots around town to take the photos at. My dad is making the wedding cake whish feels great so we have constant discussions about design and flavour to get a good result in July. Unfortunately my brother won’t make it to this side of the globe this time but hopefully he’ll record some music for us to use at the wedding and that way we can have hime there in a way after all.

Subscribe to my news!
Sunday 2nd April @ 19:25 under category: News

It has now been about 6 months since I totally redesigned my web page. One great new thing that was added was an RSS feed, basically what this means is that you can get a little message like an email every time I write something here. For this to work you can have either a separate program for RSS feeds or an email program that supports RSS like Thunderbird, a program that I highly recommend. If you use any of Micro$ofts programs like outlook or outlook express you can install a plugin called RSS Popper which allows you to receive RSS as well as emails (I have not tried this program).

To start getting these “news emails” just click this link or click the RSS link at the bottom of this page.

I myself subscribe to my comments feed so I get a little notification in my email every time someone writes a comment here on this page

Hilltop Hoods @ The Metro

Jane, Jess and Matt at the concert Hilltop Hoods on stage Hilltop Hoods on stage VIDEO: The crowd is on fire! (3MB)

Last night I went and saw Hilltop Hoods at the Metro with Matt, Jane and Jess. I met up with Matt at his job (which is just opposite the Metro) and went for a few beers and pizza. Entering the club at around ten we met up with Jane and Jess, there were a couple of other groups on before the Hoods but they weren’t great and the sound system was fairly poor all night, it was almost impossible to hear a word of what they were saying on stage… Finally the Hoods came on around midnight and put on a great show, the only setback was still the sound (as you can hear on the video) but other than that I had a great night! It was also the first time I took advantage of the night life here in the city after almost two months.
