Tomorrow I’m doing my first real lesson as a surf instructor, and I had an iterresting day at the Cafe today. I rocked up at work at 9 this morning as usual and everything was rolling along nicely till about lunch time. My boss Scott started acting a bit weird and complaining about ichies everywhere and soon he turned totally red. We sent him over to the pharmacy and he got some antihistamines and then Matt told him to go to his place which is just over the road and get a cold shower, Scott headed out of the store and in to Matts van and drove off??? when he returned he had no idea why he took the car when it was a 2 min walk. His whole body was now full with red patches and he seemed pretty weird, so we sent him to the doctor who gave him an adrenalin shock and sent him home. The doctor said it was a spider bite or an allergic reaction. Scott had a toast with a lot of Tabasco on top and after that some Mango juice. Apparently you can get allergic reactions to both chilli and mango sometimes so the combination probably wasn’t very good, but he should be allright tomorrow.
Nice and sunny today and the swell has picked up a bit, so I’m enjoying myself. Melbourne Zoo was really nice, except for all the school kids. There were quite a lot of school classes there but it was a nice sunny day so it could have been much worse. On our way home we stopped and visited Matt i Geelong. He was going out with some of his friends that just handed in their last project to finish their architecture education but we stayed and had tea and came out for a few beers but went home pretty early. Yesterday was the second staff training day at the surfschool. We went sit-on-top sea kayaking. You sit 2 people in an open plastic kayak and paddle out through the waves and then catch the waves back (hopefully), it was pretty tough to keep the balance riding the waves even if the swell was fairly small so we got pretty good at climbing back into it
Tomorrow I’ll do my second surf training class and hopefully I can do my first proper class as an actual instructor at the end of the week.
Went to Melbourne Zoo today with Bec. We had a really nice day and hopefully you’ll see some pic here soon.
Time flies by. My coffee making skills are getting better and better and I might start working as a surf instructor soon. The Cafe that I’m working at is really nice and so is everyone who works there that I’ve met so far. After just working there for two weeks I’ve already been out surfing with two of them and last night I went to a house warming party that a girls who works there was having. Nice to start getting some friend of my own, even if all of Bec’s friend are really nice it’s still good to start getting a bit of my own life. Yesterday I also had a full day of staff training at “West Coast Surf School” so hopefully I’ll get a job there. I have to do a few supervised lessons first (no pay) and also get a “surf bronze” which means taking a course and passing a few test in CPR, swimming, life-safing and things like that. It costs about $220 (~1200SEK) but things like that is always good to know so I think it’s worth it. The surf has been pretty crap last week, except the two days I was working so I really want to get a good surf soon.
I’ve got my first job, at a cafe, and I’m now available on both ICQ and MSN. Yesterday I did a trial day at Swell Cafe, it’s a small cafe about a 10 min walk from where I live. The owner is really cool and relaxed so I think it’ll be good, I’ll be waiting tables, making coffee, smoothies and so on. Because I don’t drink coffee there’s a few things to learn but it should be alright. I have also had an interview to start working in the Quiksilver shop here, it didn’t feel really good but I’ll now for sure in a few days. I have now installed “Miranda Instant messenger” on my (bec’s) computer so I am now available on both ICQ #246365459 or hurdler@spray.se and MSN on hurdler@spray.se. The reason that I’m not using my usual mail address is to protect it from spam. Yesterday we also looked at a new house, the house we’ve got is a bit small for three people and one guy that works at the same restaurant as Bec have a 4 bedroom house on his own pretty soon, it looks fine and the rent is good so the only problem is if our landlord is willing to let us brake our lease, we just have to hope for the best.
